Today i looked to the lonely planet web site, china section and i saw this alert:
Travel Alert: Serious rioting has broken out in Xīnjiāng’s capital Ürümqi, with unrest also reported in Kashgar. Travellers are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid any demonstrations. Check the BBC for news updates or the Thorn Tree for advice from other travellers.
Actually, we are a little bit anxious about our visa, if we can get it or not.. or if it’s a good decision to go in China in these days as we are turkish..
we are living in a world which is said that “progress”, but today i was thinking that the half of the world is living in poverty, in war, fighting, being killed for their ethnicity … nothing new though, it’s old known story of men ..

the previous route breaks from lanzhou and a-six-day kashgar part is added. more expensive and tiring we thought. it doesn’t seem quiet safe either especially after what happened to uyghur turks in ürümqi.
so today we met the visa-guy finally. as china doesn’t accept individual applications, we found an agency, toprak turizm. as i learned from a friend (nese) chinese consulate is far in sariyer and there used to be a lot of waiting. so it is not too bad that we each had to pay 25$ more(a total of 100$) and hopefully get all our stuff done by next wednesday.

We decided to pay 50 euros more and buy our return ticket from Hong Kong. So now we do not have to take a 41-hour train trip from Guilin up to Beijing .The round trip(istanbul-beijing,hong kong-istanbul) will coast app. 450 euros.
after 8 hours of working on the travel plan, we understood that you cannot just go to china and make a cross country trip in 20 days seeing everything you wanna to see..this is the first sketch of the trip plan.
continuous overnight trains on the cheapest hard seat..36-hour-trains..18 hour trains..41 hour trains..

This is to document our(us?-karavan ahalisi- birge,irem,zeynep)long-expected China trip. Haydi hayırlısı;)
